Volunteer with MMCC
At the Mediation and Meeting Center of Charleston (MMCC), founded in 2008, our volunteers are the heart of our organization. We are a volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering conflict resolution through the provision of high quality, affordable mediation services.
While we now have a small, but mighty staff, it’s the dedication of our volunteers that makes our work possible. Our team includes trained attorney mediators, professionals from diverse fields, and individuals with a passion for building stronger communities. What unites us all is a shared commitment to providing equitable access to conflict resolution and creating spaces where every voice is heard.
MMCC volunteers have the unique opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of individuals, families, and organizations across our community. By helping resolve disputes and foster productive conversations, they empower others to move forward with clarity and confidence.
But at MMCC, volunteering is more than just hard work—it’s about building relationships, creating meaningful connections, and being part of a supportive and dynamic community. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just beginning your journey in mediation, there’s a place for you at MMCC.
We are currently seeking volunteers to fill these impactful roles:
- Licensed Attorney Mediators (particularly those with experience in Family Court) – Help facilitate productive negotiations with family members or other individuals, with the goal of reaching final settlement agreements to end litigation.
- Non-Attorney Trained Mediators – Mediate and facilitate within our Community/Neighborhood Mediations program, helping individuals and communities experiencing situations of distress due to conflict.
- Spanish and Sign Language Interpreters – Bridge language barriers to ensure access to our services for all. **You may be eligible for our compensation program**
- Marketing & Development Professionals – Support our mission through social media outreach and fundraising efforts.
- Community Representatives – Attend local events to raise awareness about MMCC’s work and build connections.
